Leadership Sumner is a personal development program designed to motivate participants to develop and enhance the quality of their leadership in addressing pertinent community needs.
Founded in 1988, Leadership Sumner was formed to educate potential and active community leaders about the history, politics and culture of Sumner County. This includes visits with the mayors of each town, tours of historical sites by our state and county historians, an in-depth look at the legal and educational systems, an overview of many of the businesses and industries spread across the county, and a glimpse of Sumner's many parks and recreational opportunities. The program's purpose is to identify individuals with a sophisticated understanding of the problems and opportunities facing Sumner County and to improve the communication between all county leaders to better maintain and improve the quality of life we enjoy.
